Litzibuch is a project aiming to contribute to an ecologicaly, socialy and economicaly sustainable future of agriculture and forestry in Switzerland. Its heart is a certified organic farm which is located at the margin of the Swiss Reuss valley (see map), surrounded by an open, traditional agricultural landscape. Litzibuch is just ten kilometers south-east of Zurich, the largest city in Switzerland.
In spring 2000, a new team of three families leased the farm, built up several new activities and established new priorities. The main branches of the Litzibuch project are
the production of organic food,
research and planning for a ecologically and economically sustainable development of cultural landscapes (see also publications and the checklist for landscape restoration and development)
the running of a horse ranch,
and an offer of farm holidays in a separate house in the traditional wood chalet style.
